Our pick: if DreamyShorts felt slow, try Bitten by Both Sisters. The reason most people look for an alternative is the same one we noted in our DreamyShorts review: one episode with no account, a sign-up for the second, then a paywall. These four shows give you two episodes before they ask for anything.
- Two episodes open with no account on all four, against one on DreamyShorts.
- The stories lean towards fantasy, tech and supernatural plots.
- Membership starts at episode 3, and new accounts were offered −70% when we checked.
- DreamyShorts still wins on range: 95 series on its home page against the handful here.

We read the DreamyShorts figures from its pages on 6 November 2026. We last played the first two episodes of the other four as a logged-out visitor in late October 2026. These things change, so look at the player before you assume.
Which one looks better?
Put them side by side and this jumps out. A lot of DreamyShorts looks shot on an iPhone: flat daylight, like someone's holiday video. Fine for an affair next door. These four look like film. In Bitten by Both Sisters you get a four-poster bed with red curtains, then a close-up of a hand with a ring against a leather vest, and the room stays dark around them. If the phone look put you off, we'd switch for this alone. That's our taste, so play one of each.
1. Bitten by Both Sisters: the best replacement
A vampire hunter fires a silver bullet at one sister and the wound opens on his own chest. Now he can't hurt her without hurting himself, one of the two killed his brother, and both of them want him. Seven episodes, and the first runs 1:23, longer than most DreamyShorts episodes we timed.
It is darker and more stylish than anything we saw on DreamyShorts, and it goes straight to the conflict instead of spending a minute on setup. Episode 4 is called "Sisters Don’t Share" and episode 6 is "Which Bed Tonight?", which tells you where it's going.
2. I Can Hear Their Thoughts: the easiest to get into
A broken intercom shocks a delivery guy, and after that he hears what his customers are thinking. Two best friends brush him off out loud and think something else entirely. Five episodes, so it is the quickest of the four to finish. If what you liked about DreamyShorts was the ordinary setting, start with this one: it's still an apartment block and a guy doing his job.
3. The Only Mortal in Heaven: the longest
He loses his job, his girlfriend and his life in one night, then wakes up with an angel and a demoness arguing over his soul. Nine episodes make it the longest here, and longer than anything we counted on DreamyShorts, where the longest had eight. Episode 4 is "Now the Angel Wants Him Too" and the last is "Alive and Wanted". DreamyShorts has fantasy too, with elves and dragons, but this one is sillier and more fun about it.
4. My AI Girlfriend: the one with an idea
A parcel meant for the neighbour arrives at the wrong door, and the smart glasses inside put Lexie in his flat. The real owner of the account lives one wall away and would like her back. Seven episodes, and episode 2, "Five Minutes With Her", runs 2:31, more than twice the length of the DreamyShorts episodes we timed. Watch this if you want a story you can explain in one sentence.
When should you stay with DreamyShorts?
Be fair to it. If what you actually like is an older married woman and the younger man next door, nothing above replaces that, and DreamyShorts has dozens of them in settings from Greek islands to English seaside towns. Heat Tolerance and The Detail are the two we would start with. It also has a far bigger catalogue, so there is more to keep you busy once you are paying.
The alternatives are better when you want to see more before committing, or when affairs next door aren't your thing.
What opens before you pay?
This is the practical difference. Here are the two episodes you can play on each of the four, so you know what you are getting into before anyone asks for an email.
| Show | Episode 1 | Episode 2 | Episodes in total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bitten by Both Sisters | First Taste | She Invited Me In | 7 |
| I Can Hear Their Thoughts | Next Order | Her Best Friend Ordered Me | 5 |
| The Only Mortal in Heaven | Dead and Wanted | She Came Back After Dark | 9 |
| My AI Girlfriend | The Black Box | Five Minutes With Her | 7 |
On DreamyShorts the same table has one open episode per show, with the second one behind a free account. That second episode is often the better one, as we noted with Heat Tolerance, so the difference is real if you don't want to hand over an email yet.
Who are the main characters?
Both services give every show a cast, and you can come back for one person instead of a whole story.
On these four, each cast member also has a chat you can open after the show. It needs an account, the same as on DreamyShorts, so neither has an edge there unless you already prefer one.
What does it cost to keep watching?
We can't give you a fair price comparison, and we would distrust a page that does. DreamyShorts shows no price while logged out; the plans on its sister site are in our review. The four shows here need a membership from episode 3, and new accounts were offered −70% when we last checked, with the current price shown when you sign up. Compare the two checkouts yourself before paying, and check how each renews.
Who should skip these?
Skip them if you came for the everyday setting: a neighbour, a garden, a holiday let. Only I Can Hear Their Thoughts is close to that. Skip them too if you want a big catalogue to work through, since these are four shows with five to nine episodes each. And if fantasy leaves you cold, Bitten and The Only Mortal in Heaven won't change your mind.
How we picked
We only list series we opened ourselves, and we only count an episode as open if it played without signing in. We did not rank apps we haven't tried, so you won't find a list of twenty names here. We have not paid for the later episodes on either side, so we can't compare how explicit they get, and anyone who claims to without saying so is guessing.
If you want to compare for yourself, it takes about four minutes: two episodes of one of these, then the first two of a DreamyShorts series. See the full list of shows.
